Shelter in place with poetry

Like everyone else, Davis Poet Laureate James Lee Jobe is trying to be safe at home. The poetry readings are canceled, and there no classrooms for him to visit. So he is offering three ways to keep the community engaged with poetry during the shelter-in-place order.

Live-feed poetry readings on Facebook are planned for 8 p.m. Thursdays, March 26 and April 2, at  — and yes, these are safe for minors.

Second, he’s set up a blog to post community poems at . Email poems to him at [email protected] and put “Poems” in the subject line. Any topic is welcome, but they must be family-friendly.

“Truly, we do not know how long our current situation will last,” Jobe said. “Davis is my city, and you are my community, my neighbors. That which I do, I will keep trying to do, and as best as I can.”
